WTAE-TV project Bundle-Up Events

March 19 – April 9, 2021: Online Auction

The annual project Bundle-Up Online Auction remains one of the largest sources of event income. The 400 items donated to project Bundle-Up are displayed and promoted online for three weeks in March and April.

Spring 2021: Steelers TopGolf Classic

Since 1997, participants have enjoyed a fun game of golf with a Pittsburgh Steeler and WTAE-TV personalities. Hosted by Coach Bill Cowher for 9 years, Steelers Tight End Heath Miller for 10 years, and most recently by Steelers Defensive End, Stephon Tuitt.

Event includes Topgolf open play and tournament round, buffet dinner and desert, silent auction and ticket drop, challenges and prizes, and a chance to win golfing with the Steelers host for one hour!

Fall 2021: Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkin Festival

A 2,000-pound pumpkin will drop from 100ft into a pool filled with numbered ping-pong balls, the ball that bounces the furthest wins a prize! Project Bundle-Up sells numbered balls for $10 each. Over 50,000 people attend this free event. Ping-pong sales begin four weeks prior and continues at the event. All ping-pong ball proceeds go to WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up.

October-November, 2021: Kids Shopping Trips

Experience the joy of helping children select new winter outerwear at a personal shopping trip with your employees. This is a perfect opportunity for employees to engage and mentor the most vulnerable neighbors in our community.

October-November, 2021: Senior Shopping Trips

Purchasing essential winter outerwear can present a challenge to seniors living on a fixed income. For many, WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up is the only way they can afford weather appropriate outerwear. Your support not only ensures a more comfortable trip to the doctor, or a warmer wait at the bus stop, but also improves self-esteem and prevents weather related illnesses during the harsh Western PA winters.

December, 2021: WTAE-TV project Bundle-Up Telethon

WTAE-TV hosts its annual project Bundle-Up Telethon for a chance to thank, educate, and engage potential donors. The telethon provides the perfect platform to reach communities throughout Western Pennsylvania.

January 1, 2022: Pittsburgh Polar Bear Plunge

Wind, rain, sleet, or snow, nearly 1,000 individuals meet annually on the Mon Wharf and take the plunge. A New Year’s Day tradition in Pittsburgh… “Freezin’ for a reason.” The Pittsburgh Polar Bear Club and attendees jump into the Monongahela River and support WTAE’s project Bundle-Up
